(Orlando, FL) - Governor Ron DeSantis was joined by his entire cabinet in Orlando to update the immigration deportation efforts in Florida.

Speaking from the FHP Troop D Headquarters DeSantis announced that FHP is establishing a new immigration unit, the immigration enforcement section within the bureau of criminal investigations and intelligence.

DeSantis says to date FHP troopers have apprehended 3000 illegals with 500 criminal convictions. He says at this pace, Florida is apprehending illegals faster than ICE can deport them.

And thanks to operation Tidal Wave, he says FHP assisted ICE with a statewide operation that arrested 1100 criminal illegals in one week.

"The largest number in one week of any state in ICE history." said DeSantis.

DeSantis says 18-hundred troopers have completed training to help ICE apprehend illegal aliens.

The governor says troopers already got a large pay increase in this year's budget and promised another pay bump for FHP next year.
