A few weeks ago there was a national egg recall due to a salmonella outbreak. Since then the number of victims keeps rising. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says at least 35 people across nine states - Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia- have been infected by the bacteria. Hospitals treated 11 victims.
According to the FDA:
Consumers and retailers should check the carton or packaging of their eggs. Recalled products have a stamped PLANT NUMBER of P-1065 and a LOT CODE or JULIAN DATE between 011 and 102 or a PLANT NUMBER P-1359D and JULIAN DATE 048A or 049A.
Plant numbers and Julian dates are printed on individual boxes, with the Julian date following the Plant number, for example P-1359D-048A.
If after checking your egg cartons you find they're affected by the recall do not eat those eggs. Either throw them out or return them for a refund. A full list of affected eggs can be found on the FDA website.
