Parenting is probably one of the hardest things one can do in a lifetime. Raising a child is so difficult especially when keeping it together as a man or woman with all the obstacles that life presents is a challenge in and of itself. Add it to that the additional stress of helping a child keep it together and learn how to, eventually, do it on his own.
One of those obstacles that make parenting extra hard is divorce. Whether you were raised by divorced parents or are divorced yourself, or even if you’ve seen the effects of divorce second hand, you know the effect it can have on everyone involved.
In this video posted today Will Smith chokes back tears when his son tells him he’s more than a dad, he’s a best friend. In the video’s caption Smith shares how the divorce from Trey’s mom made his son feel “abandoned” and how their relationship wasn’t always this good.
