CDC Warns Not to Eat Raw Cookie Dough

One of the best parts of making holiday cookies is that guilty pleasure of taking your finger into the bowl of cookie dough.

Not this Christmas!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also known as the CDC, sent out a warning against eating raw cookie dough or feeding it to your children.

They said to “steer clear of this temptation—eating or tasting unbaked products that are intended to be cooked, such as dough or batter, can make you sick. Children can get sick from handling or eating raw dough used for crafts or play clay, too.”

It’s not just about the dangers of the raw eggs which can contain salmonella, it’s also the raw flour which could contain E. coli. The CDC is warning not just against eating the raw cookie dough, but also against letting your children play with it or use it for crafts.
