Toddler Using Knife Stirs Internet Parents' Comments

I was raised in a cooking family (the fact that I picked up very little of these skills is another topic altogether) so I was expected to be in the kitchen and help my grandmother and mom while they were cooking.

I was never allowed to do the cutting or peeling until I was about 7 or 8, but if you watch closely, this little one knows his way around the knife. He's obviously been taught how to cut keeping his fingers out of the way and he's closely supervised.

Either way, the internet lost it when this video went up, as you can imagine, with comments of the dangers of having a toddler use a knife.

If you're a parent, what do you think? Do you teach your kids at a young age how to do things on their own, even if there's some risk involved? Or do you protect them until they're older and assign them safer tasks?
