Dallas Ex-Cop Amber Guyger Found Guilty of Murder After Shooting Neighbor

After multiple hours of deliberation on Monday and Tuesday, the jury found former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger guilty of murder this morning (Tuesday) in the fatal shooting her neighbor in his apartment.

Guyger was charged in the September 2018 killing of Botham Jean.

The jury was faced with the options to convict Guyger of murder, manslaughter and also had the option of acquitting her.

Guyger testified that she mistook Jean's apartment for her own after a long shift and that she believed he was an intruder. The 31-year-old Guyger has said she feared for her life in an emotion statement made during her trial.

Prosecutors said it's absurd to suggest Guyger didn't know she was in the wrong apartment.

Guyger was charged with murder then fired from the force.
