For the first time since the 1980s, Walmart will be closed on Thanksgiving this year!
Walmart U.S. President and CEO John Furner announced that stores will break their tradition and close for the holiday. The stores are usually open late for the start of the holiday shopping season and for Black Friday.
Furner said, "We know holiday shopping will be different this year, and we will be managing sales events differently. Our best ideas come from our associates, and this year we have decided to close our stores on Thanksgiving Day – November 26."
Walmart stores haven't been closed on Thanksgiving since the late 1980's.
