With the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman touching hearts across the world, a new petition has emerged with a big & important request: A Chadwick Boseman statue to replace a Confederate monument!

As reported by Newsweek, the petition calls for a statue of the late Black Panther star in his hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. The petition says, quote, "Mr. Boseman is without question an American treasure and his accolades go on and on. It is only fitting that his work is honored in the same place that birthed him."

Given the fact that #BlackLivesMatter has been such a big part of 2020, and there's been a big emphasis on confronting America's racist history, we think this is important. If it happens, it would be replacing a monument to Confederate veterans that was built in 1902. The monument states that those soldiers were right, and the thousands of people who have signed this petition are seeking a more positive & hopeful visual that also honor's Boseman's work as a hero of representation.
