While I love all our healthcare workers I hold a special place in my heart for NICU nurses. When my wife gave birth to our first Ella, our daughter was rushed into the arms of some incredible nurses and doctors at Memorial Hospital Pembroke Pines. We didn’t know it at the time when we first held her but she was having some breathing problems and ended up having to stay in the NICU for almost a week. After a few days I was the only one able to go in and see her. I just remember the nurses comforting me and telling me it will be ok. When you have something happen like that as a parent you are completely devastated and feel helpless. Thanks to incredible doctors and nurses she pulled through! She’s seven now and I still have the t-shirt I wore when I first held her and sometimes she steals it and wears it. Little does she know that’s one of my favorite things! - @Mackontheradio
