Florida Man Attempts Floating To New York

This past weekend the Flagler County Sheriff's Office received a call about a strange vessel that had washed ashore. The vessel which looked like a giant hamster wheel belonged to Florida resident Reza Baluchi. He calls his floating contraption the hydropod or bubble. The vessel is reportedly outfitted with GPS and enough food and water for days.

Reza and his bubble washed ashore near Hammock, in Flagler County, about 30 miles from where he first started the endeavor in St. Johns County. The long-distance runner told authorities he “came across some complications that brought him back to shore.” Reza, a long distance runner said he’s traveling in the bubble to help raise money, “my goal is to not only raise money for homeless people, raise money for the Coast Guard, raise money for the police department, raise money for the fire department. They are in public service, they do it for safety and they help other people."

His goal is to run from Florida to Bermuda or further north up the coast.
