Norwegian Cruises Can Officially Require Proof of Vaccination

Norwegian Cruise Line can require passengers show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination before boarding any of its ships in Florida, a federal judge has ruled.

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams granted the preliminary injunction in a lawsuit challenging the state's "vaccine passport" ban, which was signed into law in May by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Norwegian said it implements a 100% vaccination level rule for guests and crew members in each port it sails out of around the world.

The company is relying on "robust science-backed health and safety protocols" in which vaccines are the "cornerstone" in order to provide what Norwegian believes is the safest experience for travelers.

A Norwegian cruise is set to depart from Miami on Aug. 15 -- the company's first voyage from Florida since the pandemic halted its operations.
