Day ten of R Kelly’s sex trafficking trial featured more testimony from “the minister that married him and Aaliyah back in 1994.
Nathan Edmond had never heard of R Kelly or Aaliyah when a friend asked him for a favor. He said that the ceremony lasted about 10 minutes and they were dressed in matching jogging suits. Afterwards, he was asked to sign a confidentiality agreement. He refused, but promised to never to discuss the wedding. This was his first time speaking about it publicly. Although he was offered a fee of about $25 or $50, he refused it.
Kelly is charged with nine counts of racketeering and violations of the Mann Act. If convicted on all counts, he faces 10 years to life in prison.
