Lil Wayne is spilling the tea on which rappers he thinks are legendary status. Somehow, the rapper's list did not include himself, but his number one might be even more shocking.
Weezy was doing a recent interview with FOX Sports’ “What’s Wright” podcast, and he was asked to name his top 5 rappers. and he didn’t hesitate to put the “Get Ur Freak On” innovator at the top of the list.
Without hesitation, Tunechi revealed his number one, “For me, it’s always going to be first Missy Elliott...She’s a huge influence of everything I’ve ever done.”
However, it's not the first time Lil Wayne has given Missy credit, as he recently also revealed that she was one of his biggest influences, inspiring many of his early songs including “Block Burner” and “Tha Block Is Hot.”
A seemingly very humbled Missy Elliot reacted to the rapper's praise tweeting, “Whenever @LilTunechi says my name in his interviews twitter don’t have enough space for me to say my GRATEFULNESS because he is a LEGEND himself who birthed many emcees after him & as a man to acknowledge me as a big influence 4 him I send you love WAYNE.”
Wayne's top 5 also includes JAY-Z, who he referred to as, “The best to ever even speak”, The Notorious B.I.G., and all of the members of hip-hop groups Goodie Mob and UGK.
While Weezy would make my own top 5 list of greatest rappers, it appears he doesn’t see himself in that same category, “I can’t touch them guys,” Wayne protested when the host asked why he wasn't on the list. “I would never put myself in my list.”
