Steve Lacy's new hit has gone global, but as a relatively new artist, he's decided early in his career that he will make one thing very clear: he will not tolerate things being thrown at him on stage. This week in New Orleans, the singer made an example out of one fan...and their cellphone.
On Monday night, Steve was performing in New Orleans for his "Give You The World" Tour and he was performing his hit song, "Bad Habit" when someone tossed a phone from the crowd and hit him in the torso.
Steve immediately stopped the song, telling the audience not to throw "sh** on his f****** stage"...but he said "please", so at least he didn't forget his manners.
Then things really got spicy when Steve asked for a fan standing in the front row's cell phone. Steve proceeded to smash it on the stage, and then storm off that stage.
*Awkward*
Understandably, fans in attendance were confused, and as there was supposed to be plenty of the concert left, the confusion quickly turned to anger. Many fans felt as if they didn't get their money's worth and speculated that he actually stormed off because the audience didn't know the rest of his music.
After the incident, Steve Lacy posted a statement to social media saying, "shoutout to the people not throwing disposable cameras at me and just coming to catch a vibe and connect :) i had a really good time in nola last night. i hate that the beauty of the connection i have with so many people in the crowd-gets lost when something negative happens. i don’t believe i owe anyone an apology- maybe i couldve reacted better? sure. always. i’m a student of life. but i’m a real person with real feelings and real reactions. i’m not a product or a robot. i am human. i will continue to give my all at these shows. please come with respect for urself and others please thank you love u"
