Miami-Dade County Commission after hearing from the public today about a resolution to stop adding fluoride to the public drinking water, votes to do so.
One Miami pediatric dentist who treats Medicaid patients, supports fluoridated water to prevent tooth decay. She says many of her patients are hospitalized with tooth infection and are missing out from school and their parents are missing work.
Opponents call the fluoride additive a poisonous neurotoxin that the government is adding to the water without the public's consent.
Meanwhile, two bills are moving through Florida’s legislature that would prohibit local governments from adding fluoride to drinking water.
State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo attended the meeting and says fluoride can have adverse effects on children and adults while also helping to prevent tooth decay.
