Tropical Storm Isaias Forms

The southwestern Gulf of Mexico is now home to Tropical Storm Isaias, the latest system of the Atlantic hurricane season. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami warn the storm is on a track toward the northern Gulf Coast and is expected to rapidly intensify into a hurricane by Thursday.

In response to the shifting track, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 25 northern counties. Parts of coastal Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle could begin experiencing heavy windbands, coastal surges, and localized flooding as early as Friday night.

Residents along the entire northern Gulf Coast are being strongly urged to finalize their hurricane kits, monitor local weather updates, and review evacuation zones ahead of the weekend.
