Recently, Maren Morris revealed that she's walking away from country music, or at least the parts of it that she thinks are toxic.
On Friday, the singer put out two new tracks that seem to allude to her calling country music quits.
One song is called "The Tree", and another is called "Get the Hell Out of Here". (Both songs below)
She recently did an interview with "The L.A. Times" where she said songs like "Try That in a Small Town" have turned her off to country music. She said, "People are streaming these songs out of spite. It's not out of true joy or love of the music."
She added that she thinks there's a new "hyper-masculine branch of country" that she refers to as "butt rock" that's attracted people who are sexist, racist, homophobic, and proud of it.
Maren also said she's had moments where she wanted to, "burn [country music] to the ground and start over," but she thinks it's "burning itself down" now.
Fans were wondering if Maren could be the next Taylor Swift and planning to go full pop?
Either way, it doesn't sound like she's too worried about the country world shunning her for her comments. She said, "I don't think that biting the hand that fed you is a real thing." Adding, there's a lot of "fear-mongering about getting Dixie Chick-ed."
