A trio of men in Connecticut are braving the cold weather so others can be warm. For the 13th year, Fred Brown, Rob Suchecki, and Greg Cordova spent the weekend outside sleeping on the town green in Colchester, Connecticut, to raise money for the Colchester Fuel Bank. They call the annual event Freezin’ for a Reason and say they’ve raised around $140-thousand over the years.
The money raised for the Colchester Fuel Bank helps families who are struggling to heat their homes over the frosty Connecticut winter. This year the donations are needed more than ever with lots of local families struggling to make ends meet.
Brown, Suchecki, and Cordova set up camp on Friday afternoon and spent Friday and Saturday nights out in the cold to take donations and raise awareness for their cause. As the snow came down the men were cold, but they were warmed up by their fire and by the cheers from other locals honking as they drove by. When praised for their efforts, Suchecki downplayed their part in Freezin’ for a Reason, saying, “The people that donate are the true heroes in all this.”
