The CDC is advising against sperm donations in Florida's three most-populous counties due to the threat of the Zika virus. The agency warned yesterday that sperm in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties could contain inactive Zika virus. There are 12 sperm banks in the Miami metro area encompassed by the advisory.
Dozens of locally-transmitted Zika virus cases were confirmed last year in southern Florida before Governor Scott declared active transmission zones in inner-city Miami and parts of Miami Beach "Zika-free."
