Microsoft is out with its list of top ten cities that are threatened by ransomware attacks.
Cybersecurity expert David Weston says ransomware is a type of malicious software used by bad guys to infect a device and prevent access to important files. Victims would then have to pay a ransom in order to get access to their computer back.
Weston says the Bay Area tops the list, followed by New York, Houston, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Rounding out the top ten are Seattle, Miami, Phoenix, Portland and Dallas.
