A familiar face to Miami's Cuban exile community is getting a street named after him.
Mayor Tomas Regalado this afternoon (f) will co-designate a portion of Southwest 12th Court as Rolando Ochoa Way. The mayor recognizes Ochoa for his contributions in the advancement of film, television and radio.
Rolando Ochoa was a radio and television personality in Cuba before his arrival in Miami in 1962 where he continued to perform in local theaters and delighted the Cuban community nostalgic for their past.
Together with Leopoldo Fernandez “‘Tres Patines,” Mr. Ochoa brought the Cuban people of Miami entertainment and laughter.
Throughout his life, Mr. Ochoa continued to delight his audience. He died on January 30, 2009.
