(Tallahassee, FL) -- If you're a victim of identity theft or a data breach, the first thing you're supposed to do is put a freeze on your credit reports. But Florida law says credit agencies can charge for the freeze, even if the ID theft or breach was their fault.
Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam says that has to change and he is supporting a bill that would eliminate the ten-dollar fee.
The measure passed unanimously during its first committee vote in the state legislature.
