Hurricane experts are tweaking their forecast, and it's good news for Floridians.
Dr. Phil Klotzbach from Colorado State University is now predicting a "below-average" season because water temperatures in the Atlantic are colder than normal. After predicting 14 named storms at the start of the season, Klotzbach now estimates just 10 named systems will form this year with four of them becoming hurricanes.
He also predicts that only one major hurricane of category 3 or higher will form in the Atlantic.Regardless of the forecast, emergency managers urge everyone to prepare for storm season.
